Videos Above: McDonald’s commercials in Japan
Fast food giant has been reporting great profits according to a New York Times article.
For those who are looking into a McDonald’s franchise, consider some key points.
Cost. McDonald’s website shares briefly on the cost.
Lifestyle. I know a family that owns six McDonald’s in the San Francisco Bay Area and boy do they work hard. McDonald’s require operators (franchise owners) to be at the restaurants. While McDonald’s gains added revenue by opening at late hours, consider your lifestyle change.
Control. Franchise owners must abide by McDonald’s rules. This includes prices and menu items.
Future. I predict that McDonald’s will continue to grow strong especially globally in areas such as India and China. Read more about McDonald’s global growth in China.
*note:While working as a marketing manger for Alohana Hawaiian Grill, I helped convert a mom ‘n pops into a franchise. I advise talking to accountants and attorneys specialist that have been in the franchise field.
A good book is Franchising for Dummies.
I can conclude that there are pro’s and con’s to owning any type of franchise. For people who want to focus on a turn key operations, it is a good fit. Let the marketing and menu development to the corporate company.
For people who enjoy creating menu’s and developing something from scratch, it is a better idea not to own a franchise.
