Often times, soup is left on the “back burner” in the culinary world.

But, soup is more than just a bowl of liquid. When we have found Mr. Flu or Auntie hangover, then we start running toward soup.

If done right, this molten lava can heighten mood and instantly transport flavors seeping into the tiny pores in your palate.

Just like the character of my high maintenance over-achieving high school sweetheart, there are some remarkable “hits” and a few obvious “misses.”

A New England classic, the clam chowder lacked the creamy texture found in chowder. Instead, hip hop over to Boudin. A few sand bites most likely from the clams just halted my culinary journey.

On par, the vibrant red hues from the tomato bisque opened the gates of comfort food heaven. A slight tart kicker started the senses finished by creamy highly seasoned bowl of lava.

A few splashes of Tabasco rounds out the dish even more.

A triangular grilled melted cheese sandwich amplifying nutty notes of scorched cheese would have been a great marriage, but this option sat afar.

With bitter cooling touch from olives, the hummus sandwich with cucumber made up a safe vegetarian sandwich.
