Noodle house @ Wan Chai Hong Kong
At night, I decided to give another mom ‘n pops restaurant a try. From the magazine write ups in the front, it appeared it was a sure win. I ordered the flat white rice noodle with fish skin won ton, their house specialty.
While waiting for my comfort food noodle dish to arrive, I sat back just for second to appreciate the charm of the place. Sitting in rustic circular stools, I glanced over to see the chef at work in his noodle station.
“This is Hong Kong at its best.”
The noodle chef blanched the noodle, just enough to give it character. Arriving piping hot, the velvety noodle provided great texture. The c-shaped fish skin wonton had a great bite with sea-sweat notes. A few dashes of preserved vegetables provided some savory crunch.
The bowl of noodle cost around $3USD.
