After living in Hong Kong for one month, I noticed that I have been losing around fifteen pounds despite hip hopping down the path of gluttony. One major is reason is what I eat. Gone are the days of cheese, heavy sauces, and the use of butter in my meals.

After hot yoga, I decide to eat a light lunch. Located in bustling Causeway Bay, Chi Ji is a famous noodle house known for quality ingredients and charming décor. Dressed in a traditional Chinese uniform, the wait staff is helpful and polite. Wooden tables and a simple menu welcome my senses.

Served over bright golden noodles, a moist pig’s foot showcases dual textures. A fatty skin along with tender interior meat. Also served over a bed of noodles, the won ton is also a great order. Soft skin wraps around a tasty filling. Noticeable, the dishes focuses on serving fresh ingredients without over seasoning the ingredients.

Finishing off the meal, hot fried fish balls paired well with a cooling clam sauce. Neatly lined up, vibrant green vegetables with savory oyster sauce was a great veggie pick. The nutty notes from fresh soy bean milk just rounded out the meal.

Hong Kong is filled with congee (porridge) and noodle shops.

2 Tips to choosing noodle shop

1} Eat at a noodle shop that is busy. High turnover means fresh ingredients. Look also for food reviews from magazine posted in the front window. After all, I would rather trust a food critique that is putting his/her name on the line

2} Ask for specialty items. Certain noodle shops will serve a superb dish such as cow tendon, so be curious and ask around.
