Cafe Triple Crown: Great Hainan chicken rice lunch special in Wan Chai Hong Kong

On a busy weekday, Café Triple Crown was busy. For their lunch special priced at around $5 USD, the set meal included a drink, Hainan chicken rice, and soup.

Hainan chicken is known as the unofficial national dish of Singapore. It is just so good. Poached chicken is cooked in a stock. The result is a tender chicken with flavored skin. I find that just a hint of spicy chili adds a great kick to the chicken.

The rice is cooked in a chicken stock and is so aromatic. Ginger adds spice and depth to the dish.

As for the side actors, the Russian borsch soup was just nominal, lacking fresh vegetable tones. My slightly tart lemon ice tea refreshed my palate.

The ambiance does not impress but the Hainan chicken rice makes me want to be a repeat customer.
