Great ramen can make a boring day spectacular.

Santa ramen features a milky pork broth with nutty notes that whets my appetite. You’re in control in terms of adding topping from my favorite fish roe to fried garlic.

Upon arriving, caress the bowl and gently slurp the noodles that are cooked just right.

A supporting cast of fried chicken and grilled octopus round out the meal.
The décor is minimalist making the ramen play center stage.

Another winner is Santouka that serves the comfort food dish in a Japanese super market.
Warning, this is not a date place but instead a spectacular food court experience.

The main attraction is the pork salty ramen that brings the taste bud for a roller coaster ride.
The flavor tones travels through nutty notes and next dips to a savory yet welcoming “salty” kicker from broth.

Part of the charm of Santouka is the location. Add more flavors by buying some fresh sushi boxes from the Mitsuwa supermarket.

Both place serve ramen for around $10 per bowl.
