Their “home town” hospitality is obvious.

Guest are greeted with a great smile and just instantly, I feel welcome while being seated in their dining room.

The soft tones from the walls warm my appetite for the soul food feast.

White meat just falling off the bones, the smothered chicken bathing sensually in savory gravy is a hit.
For a much heavier dish, try the pan fried liver.

Side dishes worth praising are mac and cheese and slightly tangy collard green. Fluffy corn bread dance well a dip in gravy.

Our waiter was super supper attentive.
She got to know our names and we had great conversation.

The great combination of great soul food along with stellar service makes Sylvia’s a winner.

Nutty notes from burn cheese married well with tangy tomato sauce.

Compared to John’s Pizza, Lombardi delivers a pie that is more dry in terms of the cheese and tomato filling.

There are sign posted at the entrance, “please turn off all cell phones.”

Entering through Hong Kong Football Club, the wooden panels and facilities such as indoor basketball courts are all elements that create charm. Upon entering their cafe, a swimming pool greets the guest located in the core center.

The menu features Asian and Western delights. I ordered the salmon risotto and was rather pleasant.

With a slightly crispy skin, the tender salmon meat with a sweet glaze paired so well with the soft creamy risotto.

Most of the dishes I have tried are on par except the sushi which lacked proper technique in cooking seasoned rice.

What didn’t I think about this concept?

The main dining room has open seating with elongated tables, good for those who are comfortable sitting next to strangers.

(click food photo for address + more food photos)

The interior decor has minimal elements which pairs well with a bustling open kitchen.

With a sweet tomato base, the lasagna is a great main course. The risotto featuring a creamy texture is my pick if you’re in the mood for comfort food.

All of their dishes are well seasoned and are well presented. Great place for a casual first date.

The mountain high ceilings and European decor prepares my palate for a stunning meal. The Susie Q sandwich is a house favorite. Served between a sweet bun, roast beef dances well with melted nutty cheese for a great comfort food sandwich. The juice from the beef makes the sandwich a winner.

Arriving at the luxury looking hotel, Burger Joint was no where to be found. But behind the ceiling high curtains in the hotel lobby, Burger Joint had arrived. With the sound of a bustling sizzling grill, I immediately grabbed a seat at the wooden booth and eagerly awaited my burger.

The skinny cut fries is a miss, nothing exceptional. But the burger was on par. The well seasoned most meat patty along with crunchy thinly sliced onions made a great burger. The house sauce also adds great flavor.
